Red eyeThe appearance of red eyes on people and animals when pictures are taken with flash. In dimly lit environments, the eye's iris opens to let in more light. The light from the flash unit reflects back from the retina, which is full of blood vessels; hence, the red look. Pre-Flash Some cameras have an option that produces a flash of light just ahead of the actual flash. The first flash causes the iris to close, eliminating some of the reflection. Automatic and Manual Removal Some digital cameras have red eye removal, which removes the red before the image is stored in the camera's flash memory. The removal may be automatic or an option that can be enabled and disabled. However, all photo editing programs have red eye removal. It requires that the user highlight the area around the eyes and either select a default removal function or adjust the amount of reduction. Some programs offer options for replacing the red with a color, which is helpful for pictures where the eyes are an important focal point. The red can always be removed manually in an image editor by carefully replacing the red with the correct eye color. Red eye is caused when a camera's flash is too near the lens of your camera and is directly reflected back into the lens from the back of the 'victim's' iris. Click on 'Fix Red Eye' from the menu and and drag a box around the eye(s) you want to fix. (Different editing programs have their own styles of removing red eye). The red-eye remover in Paint Shop Pro is a red-eye replacer. Rather than attempt to restore the original pupil of the eye, Paint Shop Pro says “The heck with it” and paints a whole new pupil, complete with the glint of the flashbulb. In fact, the red-eye remover can even construct a new iris (the colored portion of your eye) if. To automatically correct the red eye effect, in the Tool Options bar, click Auto Correct. To manually correct the red eye effect, first adjust the Remove Red Eye settings by clicking and dragging the Pupil Radius slider left or right to decrease or increase the size of the brush tip so it is about the same size as the iris of an eye. I liked the Brainpipe Demo. However, since I am a cheapskate, I didn't want to buy the whole game. Therefor, I decided to update the demo with the 1.01 update to see what happened. This is the result. Unfortunately, since recordToDesktop does not capture sound (for me), there is none in this video. However, not much changed in that department except as follows: -The music was the same as level 2 instead of the regular level 10 track -There was no sound for the creature selection at the end of the game Here is where I got the update and demo, incase you feel like trying it yourself. One common question I’ve gotten a lot these days is how to convert a PDF file to Microsoft Word format (doc), Excel format (xls), or JPG picture format. Usually, people want to know how to convert a file to PDF, but it’s also nice to be able to convert back the other way. There are multiple ways to get your PDF file into any of these three formats, but I’m going to stick with the easiest methods that require the least amount of software. You can pretty much do all of the conversions online these days using free tools. Convert PDF to JPG – Online Tools Go to and click on the Choose Files button to get started. Go ahead and select your PDF file and then click OK. Now under Step 2, go ahead and pick the file type you want to convert the PDF file to. By default, the box will determine the type of file you chose and give you the list of possible output file types. You can convert a PDF file, for example, into a doc or docx file, into a bmp, jpg, gif, or png file, etc. In our case, we’ll choose JPG from the list. Now type in your email address and click the Convert button. That’s about it! You should get an email a few minutes with a link to your converted file. People have complained about significant time delays between clicking Convert and actually getting an email. It seems the site is pretty busy and if you try to do a conversion at a very busy time, it can take a few hours or even a day or two to get your converted file. If this is unacceptable, they have paid monthly plans, but unless you need to convert PDF files all the time, it’s not worth purchasing. If you’re having trouble with Zamzar, you can try another free online PDF to JPG converter. The end result from both sites was very good, but then again, there isn’t much that has to be done in order to convert from a PDF to an image. It gets tricker when you have to go from PDF to Word or Excel format. Convert PDF to JPG – Desktop Software The first thing you’ll need to do is download a free software (the only one I could find) that converts PDF documents to JPEG image format automatically. Go to the and download both Omniformat v8.3 and the PDF995 app. You will need to download and install PDF995 first before installing Omniformat. Once you have both programs installed, go to your Start Menu programs, find the program group Software995 and click on Omniformat. The only annoying thing about this program is that it requires you to view some ads for about 30 seconds! However, it’s better than paying $20 or $40 for a program just to do a simple conversion! It does pop up another instance of your browser window for the web site of each of the sponsors, but it does not install any spyware onto your computer (no popup ads). Once the program is loaded, you’ll see it has a section called “ Watch Folders” and then a button at the bottom titled “ Start Monitoring” and “ Single Pass“. Basically the way it works is that you need to COPY the PDF files you want to convert to JPG format to the C: omniformat watch folder and then press Single Pass. The program will look in that directory and convert each page of each PDF into a separate JPG file. If you click Start Monitoring, you can keep dropping PDFs into that folder and the program will automatically convert them into JPGs as long as the program is open. Note that the program DELETES the original PDF document that it uses, so that’s why you need to COPY the PDF document to the watch folder, not move it! You should now see your converted files like below: Another desktop program you can use is, which also lets you convert a PDF to BMP, PNG and TIFF format. Convert PDF to Word Again, Zamzar does a great job of this conversion. Choose your file and then select DOC or DOCX from the list of options in Step 2. Type in your email address for Step 3 and click Convert. You should receive an email within a few minutes with a download link to your converted file. I have tried out this service on some pretty complex PDF documents with text in multiple columns, multiple images, etc and have been very impressed with it’s conversion accuracy. Again, there are other ways to get your PDF into Word format. Here are a few nice free online tools: If you want a desktop program for converting PDF to Word, you can download one here: Convert PDF to Excel For Excel, it’s the same process using Zamzar, which is great as long as they are not busy. Earlier, you had to convert the PDF file to a TXT file and then import it into Excel and save it as a XLS or XLSX file. Now, however, it’s been updated and Zamzar fully supports the Excel format, so you can choose it directly in Step 2. Other than Zamzar, the other popular choice is from Nitro PDF software, which is also the same company behind pdftoword.com mentioned above: If you have a very complicated PDF file and the formatting is not being converted properly using these free tools, you may have to invest in a commercial software package that can possibly do a better job. For example, there is, which will let you convert PDF files to Word, Excel and even Powerpoint files. Of course, it’s pretty expensive and probably only worth it if your IT department foots the bill. Overview The follow-up to, ' tactical real-time wargame set during the, Sid Meier's Antietam is a direct sequel developed by and released late in 1999. As its forebear did, Antietam! Recreates a single battle in the war, in this case the, the bloodiest one-day battle in history. Both mechanically and visually, it is extremely similar to the previous game, and aside from its shift in focus to a new venue, which brings with it many new scenarios as well as a new campaign, the changes made to the Gettysburg! Formula are decidedly subtle. Incorporates new interface elements, additional terrain and unit types, as well as introducing higher potential experience levels and command ratings for troops and commanders. Refinement is the common theme with most of these changes, as Antietam! Chooses not to reinvent but rather to streamline the original Gettysburg! In what was an unusual move at the time, Antietam! Was not available at retail like its predecessor, instead being sold only through the. Firaxis' original plan was for Antietam! To be the first installment in the Sid Meier's Great Battles Series, a procession of stand-alone releases based on the Gettysburg! Engine each dealing with a single battle in the war. They were to then be directly marketed and sold to the Gettysburg! Online community through the Firaxis website, where they could be purchased at a reduced price. While Antietam! The game is very detailed and realistic. It can be played as a single scenario, or as a campaign of linked scenarios, either recounting the original history or exploring alternate possibilities. Hope you enjoy playing this demo version of Sid Meier's Antietam! The demo allows you to play two scenarios and the. Find Firaxis Games software downloads at CNET Download.com. Sid Meier's Antietam demo. Command Union or Confederate troops on a detailed, 3D battlefield. Sid Meier's Antietam is the follow-up to Sid Meier's Gettysburg, one of the most successful United States Civil War computer games. Based on Gettysburg's. Was the only independent product to be born of the Great Battles Series, Sid Meier's South Mountain! Was later distributed as a patch for Antietam!, and was also included in the Sid Meier's Civil War Collection. Gameplay See also: The basic structure of Antietam!' S individual scenarios does not differ overmuch from that of Gettysburg! Engagements last a finite amount of time, and at their endpoint the winner is decided by way of Victory Points (VP), which are awarded both for casualties and holding objective points, with the latter usually being the more important of the two. By contrast to the individual missions, the Antietam! Campaign dramatically diverges from the previous game's format. Whereas Gettysburg! Presented its campaign as a series of linked scenarios which could branch in different directions based on the player's performance from one to the next, the sequel reenacts the Battle of Antietam as a single lengthy scenario, with additional variant campaigns which alter certain parameters. This particular change was a point of contention with some reviewers, though, who felt that the style of Gettysburg!' S campaign, as well as the atmospheric briefings that accompanied it, was far superior. Although not strictly related to gameplay, Antietam! Also includes the formerly-unpublished Antietam battle report of Union officer, which can be accessed and read from within the game. Updates the Gettysburg! Engine modestly in both mechanical and graphical capacities. A greater visual variety among troops is present, which is complemented by additional regiment types like Sharpshooters and Zouaves. Additional types of artillery are also present, and canister shot is also available to them for use in close-range scenarios. Also introduces a sixth experience level for troops, Elite, which starts regiments with a baseline of six blocks on their morale bar, and a fifth level of command rating for superior officers, Legendary. New terrain features such as corn fields and sunken roads further bolster environmental variance, and water features can now only be crossed at bridges and fords. The game's user interface was slightly altered in order to incorporate newly-added features or to streamline existing ones, and Antietam! Includes a greater number of contextual tutorial pop-ups as well in order to help ease new players into the game's concepts. Reception The reaction to Sid Meier's Antietam! Was generally positive, although noticeable less enthusiastic in some cases than the reaction to Gettysburg! Comments regarding gameplay were perhaps the most unequivocally favorable, as it was frequently noted that Gettysburg!' S tactical real-time mechanics, with their heavy emphasis on formations and troop placement, still held up with the release of the new game. The updates to the game's mechanics and its new scenarios were both seen as significant assets as well, though the lack of a dynamic campaign was lamented by some. Certain individuals also seemed appreciative of the fact that a number of the more commonly-highlighted ease-of-use issues and interface quirks of the previous game had been fixed or at least addressed with the release of Antietam! One of the most common complaints leveled against Antietam! Was that, while solid, it was still a fairly typical sequel which neither significantly expand upon the foundation of its predecessor nor went out of its way to draw new players in. And while it was generally agreed that the Gettysburg! Formula had aged well, the same was not always said for its presentation. Several reviewers recounted experiencing severe slowdowns during larger battles, and while most felt that the game's graphics were still attractive or at least serviceable two years later, others expressed concerns that the aging technology of Antietam! Would limit the game's appeal outside of existing Gettysburg! Fans and wargaming advocates, with a few even openly calling for a new engine if further titles were to be seriously pursued. It got new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal off to a terrific start as his Holland term comes to an end Van Persie's header, courtesy of a fine ball over the top from Daley Blind, got Holland back into the game. They never looked back from then on, as Van Persie added another with Arjen Robbe scoring twice and Stefan de Vrij bagging the fifth. But how much of our lives are being put into patterns? And who uses that information? STEPHEN BAKER looks at the trends and logic behind them that mathematicians are using to predict our future behavior in his new book, “The Numerati.” Baker has been writing for BusinessWeek for over twenty years. Listen to the mp3. Sep 29, 2008. Many people generate an immense amounts of digital data during a single day — often without a second thought. But Stephen Baker, a senior writer at BusinessWeek, warns that the information generated is being monitored by a group of entrepreneurial mathematicians. You got to the right place, used-line offer for online sale the Tektronix TDS360 for info visit us. I replaced my old 2235an/usm with one. Verified purchase: Yes •. Nice scope for about a $1/MHz! Tek TDS360 is successor to TDS350 (200MHz), added real time calendar clock and 3.5' floppy drive for storage. Made around 1997, these scopes have lasted about 20 years with a decent reliability track record, and easy to learn to use. Like all scopes of that (and this) era, they use a lithium battery backed NVRAM, which if you want the scope to run another 20 years, will need to be replaced soon. NVRAM replacing is not an end-user's task, so you will have to pay someone who knows how to do it successfully, and this may cost about as much as the scope itself, but well worth it (to avoid amnesia time bomb). Scope is fairly lightweight at about 7Kg, and works on any power line between 90 and 250Vac (without a 115/230V switch that some forget about at their peril). For those who grew up on 465/ 475/2445/2465, these are easy enough to get used to, and they're able to store even fast non repetitive stuff, at much lower price than TDS3000s. Verified purchase: Yes| Condition: Pre-owned •. An older digital scope that could meet your needs - worth considering! I have a couple of other scopes that I use for electronics repair / ham radio applications, including a Tek 465, that currently needs some work. The TDS360 is a great scope for my requirements, and I like the on-screen measurement capabilities of amplitude, period / frequency, and FFT display. Keep in mind that these are older units dating back to the 90's that do not have all of the bells and whistles found on newer scopes, however unless you need that functionality they are completely usable in a lot of applications. Make sure that the unit you are considering passes the internal self tests, and that the display (CRT) has not been burned by long time operation at high brightness settings. Units that include a set of Tek probes should be considered, as these items command a high price if purchased separately. The operating / service manual can easily be found on line, however servicing is limited to board-level replacement, and the unit contains many proprietary parts that are not typically available. Another consideration is the limited waveform memory depth, however the ability to capture a snapshot of the current display surpasses the capabilities of any analog 'storage' scope such as the Tek 468. Check online for information / reviews to see if this scope would work for you.
